What we did
If you're not that big on philately and you only vaguely recollect the stamp album you had as a kid (admittedly you’ll need to be over 30 for there to be any chance of that) with its poorly arranged collection of ultra-common, pre-decimal stamps, mainly still stuck to the envelopes from whence they were torn by an enthusiastic, but misguided aunt, then you probably see stamp-collecting as the preserve of bespectacled anoraks fretting over the quality of their perforations. Well, a few years ago, we wouldn’t have disagreed if we’re honest, but we were living in an age of ignorance and prejudice. These days stamps are if nothing else, a pretty market-busting form of investment so get down from that high-horse and tether it at an imaginary horse tethering place so you can rediscover the joy of these rather beautiful bits of gummed paper.
Purves Philatelics specialise in British Commonwealth stamps from 1840 – 1980 and if they are very much your stamp-based thing, then you’ll know Purves not only for the quality of their stock, but also for the excellence of their website, logo and stationery as designed by our good selves. Take a look, you might just want to dust-down that old album.
