Umbraco is an open-source web Content Management System (CMS) that proves it can handle 'proper websites' with big brands like Heinz, Peugeot and the genuinely god-awful Take That using the system to power their sites. With over 85,000 active installations the Umbraco is rapidly growing and with a full range of SEO tools available, clients can really maximise their visibility on Google.
For us, the great thing about Umbraco CMS is that content editors and writers don't need any previous HTML experience to create and publish good-looking, well-coded web pages. Users will be familiar with Umbraco's simple tree-like structure from operating systems like Windows and with a WYSIWYG page editor at hand, users can start editing and creating immediately!
The CMS interface is genuinely easy to use, with a simple content editor and media management that gives our clients confidence to take control of their site content. And since the CMS is available via any decent web browser they can keep their content up-to-date, anytime, anywhere.
One of our main requests was to have a fully self managed website so we can alter the content as and when we want. FrontMedia chose the Umbraco content management system (CMS). For a CMS to be that powerful yet simple and easy to use was a delightful surprise and simply the best I've ever used.
